In many rural villages, a child’s world is limited not by imagination but by access. Books are scarce, libraries are distant, and for most children, reading is confined only to textbooks. Without exposure to stories, ideas, and curiosity-driven learning, their ability to dream beyond their surroundings slowly fades.
Regenboog’s Mobile Library was created to change this reality—by bringing the world of books directly to the children. Traveling across villages, often on challenging rural roads, our mobile library carries not just books, but opportunities. It reaches children who may otherwise never step into a library in their lifetime.
Each visit transforms an ordinary space into a vibrant learning environment. Children gather with excitement, flipping through colorful books, discovering stories, asking questions, and engaging in reading like never before. For many, this is their first joyful encounter with books beyond school materials.
The project goes beyond reading—it nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Through storytelling sessions, guided reading, and interactive activities, children begin to express themselves, think independently, and develop a genuine love for learning. Slowly, reading becomes not a task, but a habit.
For these children, the Mobile Library is more than a vehicle—it is a doorway. A doorway to imagination, knowledge, and possibilities they never knew existed. In places where resources are limited, it carries something powerful: the chance for a child to see a bigger world—and believe they belong in it.
The library vehicle visits each village on a fixed weekly schedule. Children and adults can borrow up to three books at a time and return them on the next visit — no fees, no fines, no barriers.
Our collection includes Tamil and English storybooks, science and nature books, comics, biographies of inspiring figures, and curriculum-support books for school students. New titles are added regularly through book drives and donor contributions.
Beyond borrowing, our library volunteers conduct reading-aloud sessions for young children, helping build a habit of reading from the earliest age.
