Reaching the Unreached:

“3,000 kilometres. 110 villages. One mission — to turn silent suffering into awareness, diagnosis, and hope.”

A Journey Through Jawadhu Hills

Sometimes, the most important work begins with a simple call for help.

When the Government of Tamil Nadu health department approached Regenboog India Foundation, it was not just a request — it was a responsibility.

They wanted to conduct a Thalassemia diagnosis camp in the remote regions of the Jawadhu Hills. But there were challenges — financial limitations, difficult terrain, and scattered tribal populations.

They knew one thing clearly: Regenboog could reach where others couldn’t.

Thalassemia is a silent burden here.

Many tribal families live with it… without even knowing its name. Fatigue, weakness, long-term health complications — all quietly accepted as part of life.

 No diagnosis.

No awareness.

No intervention.

 Just silent suffering.

The villages in Jawadhu Hills are not just remote — they are hidden.

Small clusters of homes scattered across hills.

No proper roads in many places.

Long distances between communities.

Reaching them itself is a challenge.

Convincing them to give blood samples is another. But this is exactly where Regenboog steps in differently. Instead of bringing an external team, Regenboog built something from within.

Local youth from Jawadhu Hills were recruited as paramedical staff.

They knew the land.

They knew the people.

And most importantly, the people trusted them.

With proper training, medical support, and a dedicated vehicle, this team began their journey. Not as outsiders. But as their own people, carrying care from one village to another.

For four months, the team moved across the hills.

•               3,000 kilometres travelled.

•               110 villages reached.

•               3,000 people tested.

Each number carries a story —

a walk through a forest path,

a conversation under a tree,

a moment of hesitation before a blood sample is given.

Out of those tested, 400 people were diagnosed with Thalassemia. For the first time, their condition had a name. And with that — a path forward.

Today, thanks to this effort, the government can plan appropriate treatment and long-term care for these individuals. But beyond the numbers, something deeper has changed. Awareness has begun. Trust has grown. And a bridge between healthcare and the community has been built.

This is how Regenboog works. Not by imposing solutions from outside — but by walking with the community, understanding their reality, and building from within.

Because real impact is not just about reaching places. It is about reaching people. And staying with them.

This is how the rainbow grows.
